Google Launches "Eloquent": The AI Dictation App That Turns Rough Speech Into Pro Text
Google Eloquent is here to redefine mobile productivity. Turn rough voice notes into polished professional text using on-device AI

Google has just released Eloquent, a standalone AI writing and dictation app designed for the "on-the-go" professional. Unlike standard transcription tools, Eloquent doesn’t just type what you say—it rewrites it.
You can dictate a messy, rambling thought while walking, and the app’s "Refine" agent will instantly convert it into a structured email, a formal report, or a creative blog post. It uses a new "Edge-LLM" that processes everything on your device, ensuring your private thoughts never hit the cloud.
Key Feature: "Tone-Switching"—tell the app to make your speech sound "Persuasive," "Apologetic," or "Academic" with one tap.
Integration: One-tap export to Google Docs, Slack, and LinkedIn.
Most dictation apps record every "um," "ah," and awkward pause. Eloquent changes the game by using Google’s Gemma model to understand the intent behind your words. It automatically strips out filler words and corrects mid-sentence stumbles in real-time.
Key Features Launched in May 2026:
Offline-First Privacy: All core transcription and basic polishing happen locally on your iPhone or Android device. Your audio never leaves your phone unless you choose advanced "Cloud Cleanup."
Tone-Switching: Users can select "Formal," "Casual," or "Concise" modes. If you dictate a rough idea for a client, Eloquent can instantly reformat it into a professional email structure.
No Length Limits: Unlike earlier versions, the latest May update removed dictation caps, allowing for hours of recording—perfect for journalists, students, and long-form creators.
"Bring Your Own Media": You can now upload existing audio or video files from your gallery, and Eloquent will transcribe and "beautify" the text instantly.
