India's India Semiconductor Mission has secured binding investment commitments from three of the world's largest chip manufacturers — TSMC, Micron, and Intel — totaling over $30 billion over the next 8 years.
TSMC's India Fab
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has committed to building India's first advanced semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat. The fab will initially produce 28nm chips, with plans to upgrade to 5nm by 2031.
Micron's Memory Plant
Micron has committed to a $5 billion DRAM and NAND flash memory manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat — the first major memory chip plant in India. Construction is already underway.
Intel's Design and Assembly Hub
Intel has committed $3 billion to an advanced chip packaging and testing facility in Hyderabad, along with a major R&D center that will employ 3,000 engineers.
Government Incentives
The Indian government is providing up to 50% capital subsidy for semiconductor fabs under the Semicon India Programme. The total incentive outlay is ₹76,000 crore.
